A full-page decorative marbled paper, commonly used as an endpaper in historical bookbinding. The pattern is a "French shell" or "snail" design, featuring dense, repeating rows of small, crescent-shaped swirls. The primary background color is a deep burgundy. Vertical undulating bands of color are created by droplets of cream, yellow, green, and blue. Along the right-hand edge, a thin strip of gold-tooled decorative border (dentelle) is visible, indicating the edge of the leather binding.
