A decorative woodcut headpiece is located in the top-left corner of the page. The design features ornate floral and foliate scrollwork. Within the top portion of the scrollwork are two banners containing Greek text. In the center of the design is a circular medallion containing an intertwined monogram, possibly the letters 'C' and 'L'.
original Greek: ΔΟΚΙΜΑΖΕΙΝ, ΚΑΤΕΧΕΙΝ. This is a common scholarly motto derived from 1 Thessalonians 5:21: "Test all things; hold fast what is good."
