But to demonstrate the arrangement of these gates when open, I mark it with this 8th Figure.
A technical architectural diagram shows the plan view of a sluice or lock gate system within a masonry channel. The channel walls are depicted with a brick or stone pattern and features several notches or recesses. The diagram is labeled with several letters: 'H' at the top/exterior opening, 'I' at the bottom/interior opening. Two long gates, labeled 'B' on both sides, are shown folded back into recesses in the side walls. Hinges or pivot points are marked 'D' and 'F' at the top, and 'A' and 'C' near the bottom. Points on the outer edges of the gate structure are marked 'E' and 'G'.

But if it were a question of which of these two methods is the best, and I were to give my opinion, it would be that the gates of the 5th Figure please me more than the others: Firstly, because each of the four gates of the 7th Figure,
