...especially in the middle area, a more violent movement
of it [occurs] in such a way that often even the flame itself
would catch at this part; since,
therefore, circular ulcers also [behave this way]. Generally,
as they are shaped. And the particles onkoi: the corpuscular masses or "atoms" that Asclepiades believed made up the human body original: "ὄγκοι" are in
every part, and because of this it happens that a more
violent movement occurs within them;
and this movement clearly happens because of certain particles

pores poroi: microscopic channels in the flesh through which particles flow original: "πόροι". And by the violent passage of these,
it happens that the scarring epoulōsis: the process of a wound healing and closing over original: "ἐπούλωσιν" is driven back;
it must be said regarding this: that the movement of the particles,
being a violent movement toward the outside, becomes the
cause of such ulcers being able to discharge certain fluids rhumata: watery flows or discharges from a lesion original: "ῥύματα".
To pour out; this happens especially in those
in their prime original: "akmazontōn" (ἀκμαζόντων); referring to young adults at the peak of their physical heat and vigor. And because of these things, it happens
that such ulcers [appear] on them. For in these
people, the particles are especially quick-moving oxykinētoi: particles characterized by rapid or sharp motion original: "ὀξυκίνητοι". Because
they are many in number. But in the elderly original: "gegērakotōn" (γεγηρακότων),
especially those who also employ a sluggish nōchelē: slow, inactive, or heavy movement original: "νωχελῆ"
movement, and for the most part being contrary? certain? things?—
