Gathering XII original: "Fasc. XII"; a gathering, or fascicle, is a group of folded sheets sewn together to form a section of a book.

Four nested U-shaped curves represent these folded sheets, labeled 14, 15, 16, and 17. Eight horizontal lines represent the individual pages, or folios, numbered 23 through 30. Sheet 14 forms the outermost pair with folios 23 and 30. Sheet 15 holds folios 24 and 29. Sheet 16 holds folios 25 and 28. Sheet 17 is the innermost fold with folios 26 and 27.
