This page is a highly deteriorated fragment of the Roman History by the historian Cassius Dio. The manuscript is a palimpsest, meaning the original writing was partially erased so the parchment could be reused. The remaining Greek text is written in uncial—a formal, capital-letter script—but is almost entirely lost due to significant holes (lacunae), chemical staining, and the fading of the ink over many centuries.
