And he said to the woman, In truth,
God has said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of
the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent,
We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
And the woman said to the serpent, Of the fruit of the
trees of the garden we may eat. But of the fruit of the tree
which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said,
Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch
it, lest ye die. And of the fruit of the tree
that is in the midst of the garden, God has said
you shall not eat of it, nor touch
it, lest you die. And the serpent said
unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
And the serpent said to the woman,
You shall not surely die.
For God doth know that in the day ye eat
thereof, then your eyes shall be opened,
and ye shall be as gods, knowing
good and evil. For it is revealed before the Lord
that in the day that you eat
of it, your eyes shall be opened,
and you shall be as great ones, knowing
between good and evil. And the woman
saw that the tree was good
for food, and that it was
pleasant to the eyes, and a tree
to be desired to make one wise, and she took
of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave
also unto her husband with her;
and he did eat. And the woman saw
the rib which he had taken from
man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the
man. And the Lord God built
the rib that He had taken from
man into a woman, and brought her to man.
And the man said, This is now
bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh:
she shall be called Woman,
because she was taken out of Man.
And the man said, This time,
bone of my bones and flesh
of my flesh; this shall be called woman
because from man was this taken.
Therefore shall a man leave his father
and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife:
and they shall be one flesh. Therefore
shall a man leave the house of his father's
and his mother's bed, and shall cleave
unto his wife, and they shall be one flesh.
And they were both naked,
the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
And they were both naked,
the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
Now the serpent was more subtil than any
beast of the field which the
Lord God had made. And he said unto
the woman, Yea, hath God said,
Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
And the serpent was subtil above all
beasts of the field that the Lord God had made.
a help meet for him. And the Lord
God formed out of the ground every
beast of the field, and every fowl of
the air; and brought them unto the man
to see what he would call them: and whatsoever
the man called every
living creature, that was the name thereof. And the Lord
God formed from the ground every
beast of the field and every fowl
of the air and brought them to the man
to see what he would call them,
and all that the man called it,
the living creature, that was
his name. And the man gave
names to all cattle,
and to the fowl of the air, and to every
beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found
an help meet for him. And the man called
names to all the cattle, and to the fowl
of the air, and to every beast of the field;
and for man there was not found an help
meet for him. And the Lord
God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam,
and he slept: and he took one
of his ribs, and closed up the flesh
instead thereof. And the Lord God cast
sleep upon man, and he slept,
and He took one of his ribs
and filled the flesh in its place.
And the Lord God built
