And to Cain and to his offering He did not
have respect, and it angered Cain greatly,
and his face fell. And to Cain and to his offering
there was no favor, and Cain was angry
greatly, and his face was cast down.
And the Lord said to Cain, Why is it
kindled to you, and why have fallen
your face? And the Lord said to Cain, Why
is it kindled to you, and why are cast down
your faces? Is it not if you do good,
you shall be forgiven, and if you do not do good,
at the door sin is crouching, and unto you
is its desire, and you shall rule over it?
Is it not if you improve your work,
you shall be forgiven, and if you do not improve

the life and eat and live forever.
And sent him the Lord God from the garden
of Eden to till the ground
which he had taken from there. And He drove out
the man, and He placed before
the garden of Eden the Cherubim
and the flame of the sword that turns every way
to guard the way of the tree of life.

sword that turns to guard
the way of the tree of life.
And Adam knew Eve
his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain,
and said, I have acquired a man from the
Lord. And she added to bear his brother
Abel, and Abel was a shepherd,
and Adam knew Eve his wife,
and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain,
and said, I have acquired a man from before
the Lord. And she added to give birth to his brother
Abel, and Abel was a shepherd.

and the serpent: And the Lord God said
to the serpent, Because you have done this,
cursed are you more than all cattle and more than all
the beasts of the field. Upon your belly you shall walk,
and dust you shall eat all the days of your life.
And enmity I will set between you and
the woman, and between your son and her son;
he shall be remembering what you did
to him from the beginning, and you shall be
watching him to the end. And to the woman
He said, Multiplying I will multiply
your pain, and your pregnancies with hardship
you shall bear children, and to your husband
shall be your desire, and he shall rule
over you. And to Adam He said, Because
you hearkened to the word of your wife,
and ate from the tree that I commanded you
to say, You shall not eat of it,
cursed is the ground for your sake. In toil
you shall eat it all the days of your life.
And thorns and thistles shall grow for you,
watch

and you shall eat the herbs of the field.
By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread
until you return to the ground from which
you were created, because dust you are,
and to dust you shall return. And called Adam
the name of his wife, Eve, because she
was the mother of all the sons of man.
And made the Lord God for Adam
and for his wife garments of skin
on their skin, and He clothed them.
And the Lord God said, Behold,
the man has become as one of us,
to know good and evil, and now lest
he stretch forth his hand and take also from the tree
