In the footnote section of the translation, there are dozens of valuable annotations and textual corrections that have been used by researchers, as well as by F. Macler for his French translation and by us in this edition. H. Hübschmann, in turn, used his predecessors, especially K. Patkanyan, a fact he mentions at the end of his book (page 44).
In a 10-page preface accompanying the translation, the German Armenologist provides a general evaluation of Armenian historiography, comparing it with the historiographies of the Persians and Indians, giving the advantage to the Armenian. He then turns to the situation of Armenia, situated at the intersection of the historical interests of the Romans and Parthians, then the Byzantines and Sassanids, and then the Turks and Persians, which determined the content of their historiography.

The "Writing I" chapter from the inaugural edition of the "History of Sebeos" is translated into French.
The translation is preceded by a twenty-line preface in which, it is not known on what grounds, Sebeos is considered the bishop of the Mamikonian family (page 195). We find another piece of incorrect information in the footnote section, where we read: "In the printed manuscript catalog of the Etchmiadzin library (Tiflis, 1863, Armenian), this important work is mentioned on page 192, under number 1746." In reality, however, Sebeos' work is not mentioned at all in the indicated catalog. The author of the French note confused the work "Heraclitus on Unbelievers" listed in the catalog with Sebeos' work. Simply put, the name "Heraclius" in the title of Mihrdatyan’s edition was confused with the "Heraclitus" of the catalog.
Footnotes explaining the text are provided at the bottom of the French translation. Mainly, the corresponding places in Movses Khorenatsi and their differences are shown, and several toponyms and anthroponyms are explained.
