Fourth, and especially for this reason, I worked with willing intent to bring this wonderful Book to the light of printing, so that I might establish it as a monument of eternal remembrance for those who are completely confused and hesitant in soul, those who have strayed from the path of truth, and those who suspect [the truth] in two ways referring to people of double-mindedness or split loyalties. These, according to the Wonderful Paul, cause heresies and scandals, being outside the Apostolic Doctrine, not serving our Lord Christ, but their own bellies, and by sweet-talk and blessings they deceive the hearts of the innocent.

And so that this might be a great monument and stone, according to the erection by Joshua, son of Nun, under the oak tree, as a witness for future days among the Orthodox, light-professing [Armenians] and among those who are stubborn in the truth, the crooked-path children of our nation who follow error, and those who mislead the simple-minded. These, according to the sayings of Saint Nerses, have become completely empty vessels and tools of the will of the Evil One, having sliced and divided the unity of our pure Holy Armenian Church, calling and encouraging [the Church] by the names of carnal Patriarchs and not by Christ. By doing so, they have insulted Christ, saying: "What You have joined, we have broken again; what You have set as law, we have dissolved; and what You said to acknowledge as Your own, we have hindered." They have caught the fervent, light-born believers in various traps of sins, to the eternal shame of all.

Because of this, it was necessary for me, the overseer of souls, to bring forth this holy Patriarch Nerses, the Grace-filled, with his righteous words, so that his Correct True Confession might be in the hands of our Christ-bearing, spotless Holy Church...
