VOLUME I
The emblem of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) is depicted. The central shield contains a cross flory atop a base featuring a dog with a torch in its mouth (the "Domini canes" or Hounds of the Lord) and a star. The shield is encircled by a rosary and surmounted by a decorative ribbon bearing the motto "TRUTH" (Veritas).
