The robe of light,
Which I put on at the baptismal font original: "աւազանին",
That I stripped off by the deception of the evil one,
And with it, I put on the skin-garment an allusion to the garments of skin God gave Adam and Eve after the Fall.
Amidst the softness of the life of Paradise,
Which is a model of the intellect,
I cultivated in my own person
The thorns and thistles of the sins that grow.
Amidst the place of effortless life,
Which is said to be light according to hope,
I eat my daily bread with sweat,
I return to the earth from whence I was taken.
Now I pray, I, together with him,
That, Father, I have sinned against You in heaven.
I am not worthy to be called Your son,
But make me one of Your last hired servants.
Make me worthy of the most pure,
Of Your good Father's holy greeting.
Under the shelter of the bridal chamber
You shall gather me again.
And the first robe,
Which the thieves stripped off,
You shall clothe me with it again,
Like the finery of a decked bride.
The royal ring,
As a sign of the sovereign,
