Hymn concerning Saint Ephrem Ephrem the Syrian.

He who admires his teaching, they are radiant in works. It is not from himself that the claim arose upon the tongues: it is divine truth that cast its voice upon the sounds. He spreads the truth, the great offspring today if he hears the mystery: of the cross in the festival of the Great Solitary a term for an ascetic or monk among his disciples. Listen with faith to him who said to his disciples: concerning the athlete who stood in the struggle gloriously. While he stands in the rank of teaching: and vigorously he was struggling against the great blasphemies. While he was an apostle to the word within his opponents: that his rank among his disciples should not be divided. While he stood like an athlete in great labors: and his in the mystery of the house of revelations from the glory. While struggling and thirsting in the blood of the Son of God: that he might rescue the hand of the Savior from him who had it. While gathering from the learning of the vain things: and against all the speakers and the treasures [of] his beginnings. While the blessed one casts into it the mystery of the cross: and the heavens are gathered in it in mystery and he does not cast. While his hymns like legions went out upon the blessed one: and he proclaimed his body to the receiver who was near. While all the words of the sons of darkness go out in it: and the great light of his teaching was not extinguished. While upon the thresholds of his word of the semblances, they were all crucified: for all learning (is glorious?) from it of the hymn. While he was master of his teaching
