Acts of the Martyrs and Saints, Volume 3

Concerning that which was done by Saint Ephrem Ephrem the Syrian for the martyrs.

Strengthen, O Living One, those who fear your struggle. Grant us to help those who fear by way of the word of thought: and to participate in the blood and in the suffering of your martyrs. Grant us to walk in the place of the persecutions (1): and in it we shall be fervent and praise the Savior's name. Grant us to walk in the place in which your martyrs are gathered: and in it the glorious angels and the Zionite hearts are in it. Grant us to approach and to serve the glorious thrones: and may the living ones praise you to the Trinity of your martyrs. Grant us to live by the gospel of your martyrs: for also their memories are like that glorious wonder. Grant us to learn not in the corruption of the powerful words: but in the work of the manifestation by way of the Living One. Grant us to cleanse the hearts in which he sighs: He who kept the wonders of the Son of God. Grant us to help in the likeness of the angelic office: to the office of the childhood in which he shall live. Grant us the glory of the work of your likeness: the unspeakable: that we may walk in your likeness, that living one, to escape from the destruction.

The true one served me to look into the open springs: and if I am true, show me to spring in the fountain. The Savior, that Living One who rewarded the true one, shall be crowned in him: is he not living? Glory shall go out to the angel of the place. The true one of the manifest served him to the manifest in the living, He: that the manifest shall participate (2) in the manifest in the sound of the blood.
