You, children of the Church, choose for yourselves martyrs and learned teachers,
And all who are remembered, and whose martyrdom is in the two worlds that are glorious.
Something like it is exalted above the world and its bonds: for even
At the door of the vow, in the place where their original: "bukhon" resides, the Ephesians are worthy
And it exists for her, for her own sake, to the other world, first for the houses
(Of glory original: "teshbuhta"?) they are, beauties like it that are not like an eye that is set,
And if her daughter does not show it original: "lhe" to the one who rises for it,
And it is ordered (is it called original: "etqri"?) in it by her grace, not so for him
When the land is pleased triumphantly.
Not for the Church did Ephrem speak when he spoke thus, not so
For me when the land, full of its deceits, is pleased, for him as he is
I am sufficient to speak, for his is weak and I am weaker
Than his glory, he who offered fruits to the Church by his teaching,
And added glory to the Exalted One who is not set upon the one who praises, he
Who became the life of the two in our land, and of his teaching as
The one who brings forth that prophet, he who destroyed the tares of heresy,
And was removed from all the treasure of simplicity, he who is like a river
To the generations of teaching, and the leaves of the life-giving waters of all learning,
He whose mouth was its spring and his words a treasure, and like tablets
(1) Glory. (2) (For them?). (3) Received.
