The Fifty-Fourth Discourse.

The kingdom is its hope, death. Have you seen the light like a lamp, and the will of the divinity? The spirit of death was breathed out suddenly and extinguished its glow. You were sheltered under your shade like a tree, and death fell to strike suddenly, and you were broken. You were relying on your great strength from its side, and death came and overturned it, and it fell and struck the side. The sun set for it, and the light in which you were walking darkened; and that star, the object of wonder, was placed in the land. The good spring, from which is the great drink of the King, which the desolate one sharpened and cast to the children who inherit from him. You have seen the people, the rock, the mountain, and also the high ground; how blessed it is upon his departure, and grace arrives. The pillar of his kingdom—I was standing in the night of darkness; I passed through suffering and sorrow at his departure. The whole earth is under the people at his departure, like the chosen one, Mar Simeon, the servant of Jesus. They shall be protected from the suffering that fills life, but the soul shall be as a spiritual thing. Blessed is the soul that gives to you new life, and the body finds rest from toil and much labor. Blessed is the soul like the chosen one who goes to the ascent, which lives and reaches the divine kingdom. The Son of God, who is original: "that he is/that he exists" from his youth, may he make us worthy by his mercy that in his humility we may praise the living.
