and the correction of the proofs more tiring and more difficult than usual. I dare hope, however, that the errors one might still find are not of vital importance.
The critical apparatus has been composed in a particularly succinct manner. It did not seem necessary to me to repeat a whole series of remarks on the form and content of the text that are already found in the Book of Rays. The same applies to the table of biblical and non-biblical citations found in that work. Likewise, for a list of the technical terms of the grammar, I refer to the appendix On the Terminology of the Book of Rays. Although all the references in that work refer to the edition of MARTIN, they can nevertheless also serve for the present edition, where one will find, in the inner margin of the pages, the numbers corresponding to the pages and lines of the text of MARTIN.
I wish to thank M. PINOT, lecturer of French at the University of Lund, who kindly translated my Introduction into French and reviewed the proofs. Likewise, it is for me a pleasant duty to express my gratitude to the libraries of the different countries that facilitated my work through the kind manner in which they received me, or through the specific and purely personal services they rendered to me.
