Following the example of the Apostle St. Thomas and St. Mares, the Chaldean clergy worked for the propagation of the faith in Persia, in India, and in China. We find evidence of this activity in the Life of St. Jonas, which we propose to publish shortly. This Life was written by Zadoï, abbot of the convent of St. Thomas in India, who had given hospitality to the saint in the monastery he directed. St. Jonas was a disciple of St. Eugene and lived at the end of the fourth century or at the beginning of the fifth.
