And because the Son was distanced from the Father, for the redemption of humanity, he could not be. For how, apart from us, would he cast himself as our life, unless in us, in our own souls? And thus our souls [are] in the unified life, for the blessed one has a soul. 7 v. a. And his workmanship—it was this, how that which he cast like the word of the blessed one into that humanity, while he swallowed all wickedness and cast it away, and clothed it in the garment of power. At a time when the [mystery] of the bodily [presence] was not known to him, how even that wonder, which was of the dew, was substituted in sweetness, in the uprightness of the essence, so that he would not be known to the fear of death, not from now. [and] he was stillness [to] his thoughts of likeness. He did not establish, but from that, in temporality and from these whisperings, he fled. And in the service, they were visibly in the church: that which is the image and the blood of the coming [one], he was fenced; everyone who was heard at the time in the spirit. And the reputation of the blessed one was radiant, at the time to a great distance, because he distanced himself, he understood and lived the guardian of the monastic life that was, and all the fear toward him was known.
