SUPREME PONTIFF
From the Vatican Library.
The Syriac text was edited after the death of Peter Benedict the Maronite of the JESUS Society Society of Jesus, i.e., the Jesuits by STEPHANUS EVODIUS ASSEMANUS, ARCHBISHOP OF APAMEA, who added vocalization, translated it into Latin, and enriched it with the commentaries of various scholars.
VOLUME THREE
IN SYRIAC AND LATIN.
An engraving showing the interior of a hall in the Vatican Library. The perspective looks down a long corridor with a polished, patterned floor. The walls are lined with ornate, floor-to-ceiling wooden cabinets featuring decorated panels. The ceiling is a large barrel vault adorned with frescoes and architectural moldings. In the background, further arched chambers of the library are visible. The engraving is signed at the bottom right by the artist, likely Giuseppe Vasi.
