...from Kafa the city of Keif, the King Chaleph received; and even if he was in the condition in which he was before that time, when he donned the garment the monastic/patriarchal habit in the year 1765 1454 AD as the sign of the Cross indicates. And the bishop Georgius of the monastery of Qartmin laid hands upon him. And he was called Ignatius, as were all who preceded him, from Bar Vahib, Bader, and Zache, and up to this day.
Therefore, the bishop Josue of Inwarda was proclaimed Patriarch in Tur Abdin. He died in the year 1777 of the Greeks 1466 AD, and was buried in the monastery of Mar Jacob the Recluse of Salakh a village in Tur Abdin. He fulfilled the patriarchal service for six years, when he migrated to his Lord. May God grant rest to his soul with the righteous and the upright. Therefore, Josue of Inwarda was proclaimed Patriarch in Tur Abdin, who died in the year 1777 of the Greeks 1466 AD, and was buried in the monastery of Mar Jacob the Recluse of Salakh. He fulfilled the patriarchal office for six years, when he migrated to the Lord. May the Lord grant his soul rest with the just and the upright; for he was an erudite teacher and a pleasant writer, equally versed in the use of sound eloquence among his own and strangers, tall of stature, singular among his contemporaries, to whom no one of his time could be compared.
After the death of Josue of Inwarda of Tur Abdin, all the people of Tur Abdin appointed a common father for themselves, a just man, proven in morals, chaste, a virgin in mind and body, who had labored greatly in his religious profession; they ordained him Patriarch in Tur Abdin, and called him by the name of his predecessors, Ignatius.
