...and they called him Patriarch Ignatius over the Church of the administration, just as he was like the manner of his predecessors. And the bishop Shamshun of the monastery of Qartmin laid hands upon him; he was the bishop of Hah a village in Tur Abdin. And he had the name of Philoxenus, the bishop, and his administration was there. And in that monastery, he was a bishop and administrator, and Rabban Saliba the Arab, of Barsila a disciple of Mar Josue, son of the priest Esaias, the luminous teacher and eloquent, holy and canonical man, ordained him. He who made the qanuna canon/rule and all that he willed. And this man also, when the body fell, would fulfill the way of the demos people/community according to the holy canon. And he did not [refrain] from the offering of that holy body of Christ. And when he was learning, he did not release the priests. And he would admonish everyone that he was vowed, and he did not release the people who [did not belong] to the Church. Furthermore, the Patriarch of Mardin, Chaleph, approached the bishop Joseph Bar-Nisan of Mizcha from the mountain, and requested of him to become Maphrian and to be destined for the East. The Patriarch, however, having examined his intent, ordained him Maphrian and called him by the name of his episcopacy, Cyril; in truth, he did not proceed to the East...
