And after those wise words, the insistence of Umar was dissolved, and a command was written with firm and unchangeable facts. He reached his district of Goghtn and made arrangements for the overseers, according to the command. But, as the similarity of events seemed to us, like a ray of light that was in the mind regarding the faith, he asked God to be delivered from them. Because frequent news reached him that Umar had died, and he—not wishing to go according to the firm command of his own pleasure that was in the Tachkastan Arab lands—mourned that return to the likeness of his childhood. And he once again shed tears in the font.

And when everyone saw all that, the habits of his unworldly mind, they wanted to bind him to the world with love. They forced him into marriage, so that the nation would not perish at once. And having achieved their own desires, they made it from the kinship of the lord of Syunik. But he did not change from his love of God, so that the greatness of the world would not seize him, and he would not remain in secret with his piety, but rather openly confess Christ, and not live in cowardly renunciation.

Then, lifting his mind above these transient worldly things, he left behind all his greatness,
