For the nations that did not know You, and upon the kingdom that did not call upon Your name, pour out Your anger upon them, because they have devoured Jacob and laid waste his dwelling. May He not remember against us the sins of old; let Your mercies come quickly to meet us, for we have become very poor. Help us, O God our Savior, for the sake of the glory of Your name; deliver us and forgive our sins for the sake of Your name, lest the nations say: Where is their God? Let the vengeance for the blood of Your servants that has been shed be made known among the nations before our eyes. Let the sighing of the prisoners come before You, and according to the greatness of Your arm, spare those who are children of death. And pay our neighbors sevenfold into their bosom, for the reproach with which they have reproached You, O Lord. We, however, are Your people and the sheep of Your pasture; we will give thanks to You forever, and from generation to generation we will recount Your praise. O God, the forgiver, who does not hold anger forever, just as You guided Ephraim like a flock, and as the prophet said: God, who desires repentance and does not desire the death of the sinner, but that he should turn and live; accept our repentance and turn to us in Your mercies.
And deal with us, O good Lord, according to Your many mercies, and remove from us the rod of Your anger, and establish peace and harmony among us, and guard Your holy church. For us, Your sinful servants, deliver us from trembling, and from famine, and from plague, and do not abandon us into the hands of our enemies, but pour out Your mercies upon us, and cast out from among us strife and the evil hand. Do not give us over, O Lord, to reproach, nor to derision for the nations, lest the nations say: Where is their God? O Lord who saves us, just as You saved Noah from the waters of the flood, and Lot from Sodom, and Joseph from the house of prisoners, and Moses from the hands of Pharaoh, and David from Goliath, and Hananiah, Azariah, and Mishael from the furnace of fire, and Daniel from the den of lions, and Jonah from the belly of the fish, and Simon Cephas from the house of prisoners, and Paul from Damascus; so save us, O Lord, from all afflictions, and from all distresses, and from all pressures, and from all trials, and from all evil occurrences. And You, O Lord our God, save us and deliver us.
