...so that they may fear the Lord all the days that they live upon the face of the earth, and they shall teach their children. And now, if you are willing, O Lord, to show kindness and truth with my master, tell me. And if not, tell me, and I will turn to the right or to the left. Laban and Bethuel answered and said, "From the Lord the word has gone out; we cannot speak to you bad or good. Here is Rebekah before you; take her and go, and she shall be the wife of your master's son, as the Lord has spoken." And it came to pass, when Abraham's servant heard their words, he bowed down to the earth to the Lord. And the servant brought out items of silver and items of gold and clothing, and gave them to Rebekah. And he gave gifts to her brother and her mother. And they ate and drank, he and the men who were with him, and stayed. And they rose in the morning and he said, "Send me away to my master." And her brother and mother said, "Let the young woman stay with us for about ten days; after that you shall go." And he said to them, "Do not hinder me, for the Lord has prospered my way. Send me away, that I may go to my master." And they said, "We will call the young woman and ask her." And they called Rebekah and said to her, "Will you go with this man?" And she said, "I will go." And they sent away Rebekah their sister, and her nurse, and Abraham's servant and his men.
Speaking by the door of the eighth of the first book: The world is cleansed by water. And Noah came out from the ark, and sacrificed to the Lord an offering. And the Lord blessed Noah and his sons. And the covenant stood between Him and the world. And He said to them, "You shall not die again by water." And He gave them the bow in the clouds as a sign of the covenant. And He said to them, "Eat of everything that is alive, as the green of the herb I have given you everything. But flesh with the blood of the soul you shall not eat. And the blood of your souls I will require from the hand of every living creature, and from the hand of man. I will shed the blood of man; for his blood shall be shed, because in the image of God He made man. And you be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth." And God said to Noah and his sons who were with him, "Behold, I am establishing My covenant with you, and with your seed after you, and with every living soul that is with you, of the birds and of the cattle and of every living creature of the earth that is with you, from all that went out from the ark, to every living creature of the earth. And I will establish My covenant with you, and all flesh shall not end by the waters of the flood, and there shall not be another flood to destroy the earth." And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant which I give between Me and you, and between every living soul that is with you, for the generations of the world: My bow I have given in the clouds, and it shall be for a sign of the covenant between Me and you."
