the panels of the ceiling above the columns, and not the garments of the priests, which are rent from the top to the bottom.
Page ܝܚ 18 col. a, ll. 21, 22, the words which I have transcribed as ܢܓܪܐ carpenter, may possibly be ܢܓܕܐ scourging. But I think I see the dot over the ܪ r of the second word.
On page ܡܚ 48 col. b, we seem to hear the echo of fierce controversies which did not arise till the fourth century.
On page ܠܕ 34 col. b, ll. 7, 8, we are interested to learn that the number of monasteries under the jurisdiction of the convent on Mount Sinai was 320.
On page ܡܚ 48 col. a, l. 20, Dr Nestle has suggested that something like the First "Kanūn" December might be filled in. But the letters which are visible on a greasy page do not correspond to this. Some of the missing words on this page are so completely scraped away that it is impossible to recover them.
Page ܠܓ 33 l. 17, Cod. Harris has here a contraction ܕܡܪܢ of our Lord which I have amplified to ܕܡܪܢܘܬܐ of Lordship.
Page ܠܚ 38 col. a, l. 2, Cod. Harris has always ܡܠܟܘܬܐ kingdom for ܡܠܟܘܬܗ his kingdom.
Page ܝܚ 18 col. b, ll. 8, 9, there are probably two dots over the second ܪ r in ܡܪܐ ܡܪܘܬܐ Lord of lordship but they cannot be seen.
On page ܚ 8 col. a, l. 25 we have a divergence from the text of Dr Wright in the Journal of Sacred Literature, for it was the sister, not the nephew of King Lydan whom the Apostle Thomas was about to baptize when the message of the Holy Spirit reached him.
On page ܢܘ 56 col. a, l. 4 we have rendered the phrase ܒܪ ܐܢܫܐ Son of Man and ܒܪ ܐܢܫܐ son of man on page ܠܛ 39 col. a, l. 15, and page ܡܚ 48 col. b, l. 19 by "a man."
On page ܟܛ 29 col. a, ll. 18—20 the text is much more intelligible than that of Dr Wright's MS.¹ from which the word ܐܘܡܢܐ craftsman had probably been dropped. On col. a, l. 19 the word ܡܛܥܝܢ loading/burdening seems better than the ܐܦܢ even/if of Dr Wright's text, l. 23.
