This library is built in the open.
If you spot an error, have a suggestion, or just want to say hello — we’d love to hear from you.

For a long time, because of the aforementioned benefits and to serve Your Electoral Highness with even greater humility, I have collected and gathered many kinds of mill-works and water-engines. I hereby present them to Your Electoral Highness, most humbly begging you to accept this dedication, which stems from my most humble duty and good intentions, in your customary grace and to grant the present treatise a little place or spot in your precious and curious library.
Herewith, I most humbly recommend myself, unworthy as I am, to Your Electoral Highness and your entire most distinguished Electoral House, to the fatherly care and providence of Almighty God, for constant bodily health, a peaceful and happy reign, and all high prosperity, as well as to your enduring, most gracious favor.
Given in Frankfurt am Main, the 25th of August (the day of St. Louis), 1661.
