More fortunate than Hercules!
Those things he deprived of life, this fountain brings to life;
Those he broke with a club, this fountain rules
By flowing in gently.
By this stratagem,
It strengthened the Mainz Wheels,
original: "Rotas Moganas." This refers to the "Mainz Wheel," the heraldic symbol on the coat of arms of the Archbishopric of Mainz. Johann Philipp von Schönborn was the Archbishop-Elector of Mainz.
So that they might turn well,
Which, because they were seized by storms,
Were almost overturned.
Truly, it is often worth more to be humane than to be strong,

In conquering through love than through force.
