Optics

The central shield is quarterly:

• The first and fourth quarters feature a crowned lion rampant (the Lion of the Palatinate).
• The second and third quarters feature a lozengy pattern of fusils (the Bavarian diamonds).
• An inescutcheon (small central shield) is positioned at the center, though its specific charge is simplified.

Above the shield are two helmets with voluminous, flowing acanthus-leaf mantling that fills the side margins. Each helmet is topped with a crown:

• The crest on the left features a crowned lion sejant positioned between two tall, curved horns (proboscides).
• The crest on the right features a crowned lion sejant positioned between two large, upright wings.

The entire composition is enclosed within a simple rectangular line border.
