The printer's mark of Peter Short features a central T-shaped (Tau) cross with a serpent coiled around the vertical shaft. At the base of the cross, two hands emerging from stylized clouds are joined in a handshake (dextrarum iunctio). In the background, behind the central emblem, is a faint, large heraldic coat of arms with multiple quarterings and a crest representing the coat of arms of William Gilbert.
