A large, intricate heraldic coat of arms. The crest features a bird, possibly a phoenix or eagle, with wings displayed, rising from a coronet atop a barred knight's helmet in profile. The helmet is surrounded by voluminous, swirling foliate mantling. The central shield is quarterly: the first and fourth quarters show a chevron between three lion faces (affronté); the second and third quarters feature a cross charged with five scallop shells and a small crescent moon in the center. The shield is framed by additional decorative scrollwork and acorn motifs at the bottom corners.
A small circular ink stamp belonging to the Bodleian Library.
