"…a subject, whatsoever, for He needs nothing even from beings higher than ourselves. Nor is there any plant or animal which the earth brings forth or nourishes, with whom petition is not a matter of concern. We should offer prayer in a hymn to Him solely as the higher power. I mean not that which issues from the lips; rather, from the noblest of beings, we must ask for blessings by the noblest faculty we possess, and that is our pure intelligence, which needs no physical organ. On these principles, then, we ought not on any account to sacrifice victims to the almighty supreme God."
