Andrew George Little was a distinguished historian of the Franciscan order. He was instrumental in founding this society.

George Gordon Coulton was a British historian known for his extensive studies on medieval social and religious life.

Hastings Rashdall was an influential philosopher and historian. He authored a definitive work on the history of universities in the Middle Ages.

Thomas Frederick Tout was a leading medievalist. He helped create the Manchester School of History.
