I believe I have some knowledge of such things myself, as a man who has been dealing with Syriac for seventeen years, and they are not too difficult. However, I thought it would be premature to publish them if they were to be issued along with a German translation of Titus—a translation I intend to complete within the space of two years, God granting me life and good health. In the same volume with Titus, I will include the Didascalia Apostolorum Teaching of the Apostles, that is, the six books of the Apostolic Constitutions as they were read among the Audians, as well as portions of my Analecta collected literary notes that seem worthy, and the life of Alexander by Callisthenes translated from the Armenian language. If I appear to have assisted theologians and philologists with this work, I will be grateful, provided I am seen to have assisted only as a passing effort. For I say that I have published, or intend to publish, everything—the Didascalia, the Analecta, Titus, and the Geoponica agricultural writings—so that the books I used to compile a Syro-Greek glossary and to write a comparative syntax of the Syriac and Greek languages might be exposed to the eyes of all. My purpose is that, if I have proven my commitment in handling all these works, I may then proceed to edit the New Testament based on the authority of the Oriental versions. To transcribe Syriac manuscripts and to publish them after they are transcribed is not a great feat, although I admit it is a burdensome task and the costs are insanely high.
