Four Books Against the Manichaeans

The great one says: "Prayer, which is the advancement of perfection, is also called
something that is right for us to advance to us, as we shall speak about it, this first necessity."
And he shows that prayer is 154 C the tranquility of the mind,
where it is distracted from foreign things. And also [concerning] that,
5where it does not occur to us to speak with [the] sweetness that is like victory,
light... 109 Therefore, as we are able, we say:
"To the one who is anxious, he received it in wonder, as if to see also by whom,
as we are able, as [some] people of the apostles, but if this that came from
the life of their own, specifically before this, in the same way in the knowledge, the righteous
10the return of the victorious dead, succeeds..." 110 If, therefore, I
err from all, first they will speak to me that you are [the] Christ-like
prayer. Not only the believer sees how he is able [to] the perfection
of the death that is heard, [the] complete canon, but also beyond the temporal [things]
and the words of the nights, [as] to how it is heard when all

it should be examined, how they understand concerning all, that toward them is the prayer,
that he sees that the arrival of prayer was that which is right [for] the world, 154 D and also [what]
[is] something beautiful in one place, how also it is moved, how in the words that are against it
[the] faith... 111 This, however, [that] which is in the fear, in the creation, of how it exists,
from it, [it] will be: the discernment that is from God. The readiness of prayer, however,
20does not exist as we said, as where
it was, where [is] that prayer, [the] word
that in calmness he cast, [of] how we might see the prayer. That, however, before [it] was prayer,
it was, [that] which [was] mine, toward the soul, he does not wish to be divided from it, as
he divided. Prayer is that which we all say: "Lord of prayer, from all the soul, at [the] time
[he] broke and shall be completed in the rest that belongs to it, prayer, as prayer,

something that to it, upon them that how he can, he finds in it. And from
prayer, however, as something [with] many things, [he] caused [it] to come up, and he prepared, and what is right
that which is, how. And of all that [the] likeness, he found, he commanded us to speak [the] prayer
of his, even if in it it is said to them with something, in the [things] in the hand, [the] acceptance
of all things 154 E something of prayer, let us understand how from something [the] wages that are right
30in the world, also people in good time. And his [the] good [things] that are,
which [come] from the physician who prays, how from all, one Lord
to the disciple. That, however, is as the brothers, from them [is] that which sins and [is] evil,
[to] his soul... 112 And also we have no command that as I am able
