SUMMARY OF THE PRIVILEGE.
According to the general Privilege, which the MOST CHRISTIAN KING granted to Petrus Gassendus, Provost of the Church of Digne and Royal Professor of Mathematics, and which he himself, regarding three certain Works, has yielded: It is prohibited that anyone, except the Widow of MATHURIN DUPUIS, formerly a Parisian bookseller, may print within the entire Kingdom, or sell elsewhere, three books by the same GASSENDUS, the titles of which are: The Life of TYCHO BRAHE, Danish Knight, Chief of Astronomers; to which is added the Life of the celebrated astronomers Nicolaus Copernicus, Georg von Peuerbach, & Johannes Regiomontanus. The ROMAN CALENDAR concisely explained; to which is added a Corollarium Chapter on the Roman Martyrology. NOTITIA of the Church of Digne; to which is added the Council of Avignon of the year 1326, from the Manuscript Code of the Statutes of the same Church; and this for twenty years, under the usual penalties. Given at Paris, the 1st day of June, in the year 1654.
