SUMMARY OF THE PRIVILEGE
ACCORDING to the general Privilege, which the MOST CHRISTIAN KING granted to Petrus Gassendus, Provost of the Church of Digne and Royal Professor of Mathematics, and which he himself had contracted concerning a certain tenor of the Work: It is provided that no one, except the Widow THAVRTVM, a bookseller of Lyon, may print within the entire Kingdom, or sell elsewhere, books by the same Gassendus, the titles of which are: The Life of TYCHO BRAHE, NICOLAUS COPERNICUS, GEORG VON PEUERBACH, & JOHANNES REGIOMONTANUS; divided into three Volumes, of the very famous Astronomy contained therein; TYRIUM or a compendium of the explanation of the Canons of the ROMAN Calendar; NOTITIA of the Church of Digne, & certain others. And this under the penalties expressed in the diploma. Given at Paris, the 1st day of June, in the year 1654.
