An elaborate copperplate engraving serves as a frontispiece. At the top, a flowing banner contains the title "Epistles." Below this, a large dove representing the Holy Spirit descends, surrounded by a radiant halo and an oval wreath of flickering tongues of fire. Beneath the central dove, two more doves fly toward opposite sides: the left one holds an olive branch, symbolizing peace, and the right one carries a sealed letter in its beak. The bottom portion of the engraving depicts a coastal landscape: on the left, Noah's Ark floats on calm waters, while on the right, a densely packed, walled city with several church spires and a prominent domed building sits on a rocky shore beneath a range of distant mountains.
