PREFACE

expert guarantor, such that one may believe him on his word, by the common consent of the learned persons who apply themselves to the secret philosophy: to the extent that it is claimed he is the author of this manuscript, and that the original was made in German. Others maintain that it was printed in Italian. Be that as it may, I have never been able to find it except in our language. It is joined to the Text of Alchemy because it forms the fourth part of it. They are both so clear to those who know how to understand them well that no explanation is necessary.
