PREFACE.

However, as the author’s main goal in his Dream is only to speak through riddles, particularly regarding the first operation, I dare to promise myself that the reader will perhaps not be displeased if, in passing, I also state my opinion on what I have conceived of the first part of the Work, according to the lights with which it has pleased God to grace me. I also hope that if I have erred in any place, one will have the kindness to notify me so that I may correct myself: and that if I lack some thing—
