The present translation of Juvenal differs from the other translations in the series of interlinears published by Mr. Desilver in the following respect: the order of the original has been preserved, and the order in which the words of the translation should be read, when it departs from the English word order, is indicated by numerals. This has been considered an improvement which will be recognized by all educators and students, and by all who may have occasion to consult the original.
The summaries arguments of the Satires have been taken from the excellent translation of Juvenal by Evans, published in Bohn’s series.
