original: "Suecorum, Gothorum et Vandalorum Regi." This was the traditional full title of the Swedish monarchs from the 16th century until 1973, asserting historical dominion over these ancient tribes.
Frederick I (1676–1751) was King of Sweden from 1720 and also the Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel from 1730. As Landgrave, he was the direct sovereign of the University of Marburg where Wolff taught.
