PREFACE

A large decorative drop cap 'P' featuring an illustration of a leafy plant or small tree growing out of a classical-style pedestal urn or vase.We are now bringing to light the second part of Psychology, which we call rational rational psychology: the branch of philosophy that seeks to explain the "why" and "how" of the soul's nature through logic and reason. In this volume, we provide the explanation for those things that became known to us in empirical psychology empirical psychology: the study of the soul based on observation and experience where experience original: "experientia magistra"; literally "experience as teacher" was our guide. I confess, this is a new undertaking: for until now, no philosopher has attempted to provide an a priori original: "a priori"; a method of reasoning from definitions or causes to effects, rather than from observed results account based on the essence of the soul to explain why these specific faculties the natural powers or abilities of the mind, such as memory or imagination are present rather than others, and why the soul follows these particular laws in its modifications the various states or changes the soul undergoes rather than different ones. Nevertheless, I do not believe I deserve criticism for this, since to no phi-
