A detailed engraving of a tattered papyrus fragment containing Greek uncial text. The fragment is depicted with jagged, torn edges and several internal holes (lacunae) where text is lost. It is set against a background of fine horizontal hatching lines within a rectangular border. Below the fragment, the text "COL. VI" is engraved in large, shadowed Roman capitals. At the bottom left, "G. B. Malesci del." and at the bottom right, "Bart. Oraty inc."

...and these, even when urged by this [person] to exist in a disturbed state, he says that by means of music [it is] brought together by the poems, nor is it aided through music and poetic Eros [by] the majority; [since] by the majority it is inflamed, and to become [composed] in erotic matters—the things said by this [person] present each [case] as he stands by; [but] when [it is] through? all things... and of the kind, indeed, it has happened [that] for the whole [man] not to be calmed from grief, but sometimes even to hold back many things, and indeed to intensify many [others], and [furthermore] toward this [matter] of those writing...
