The coat of arms of the Royal Society of London. The central shield features three lions passant guardant in pale. Above the shield is a barred helmet with decorative mantling of acanthus leaves. The crest atop the helmet is an eagle (or griffin) holding a small shield with the arms of England. The supporters are two hounds (talbots) wearing ducal coronets around their necks. At the bottom, a ribbon scroll bears the motto of the Society.
