ALEXANDER FABIANUS, I have thought it proper to make this present little work concerning the threefold Magnet manifest to the entire literary world, so that from this very thing, that threefold insoluble knot of Magnetism, by which I have so powerfully bound THEE to me and THOU me to thyself, might be as it were a perennial and immortal testimony of the friendship, alliance, and love entered into between us. Farewell, most distinguished man, the unique glory of my friendship. Farewell, long surviving for God, for the good of the New World, and for THYSELF.
From the Roman College, the Kalends of January, 1667.
