Preface

Having reviewed it, I have, with great effort, refined it using the new method of questions and answers and preserved it through my own commentary (the Vimalā itself).

This "Bījagaṇita," accompanied by these two commentaries, has not been printed anywhere until now. However, the late Shri Jayakrishna Das, son of the eminent Shri Haridas Gupta, has had it published at his own expense in his "Vidya Vilas" printing press for the convenience of teachers and students.

I hope that this work, refined with such care, will bring joy to those astrologers of impartial and pure minds, as well as to students who possess great affection and a desire to learn, as it is now made public for their benefit.

Finally, if any errors resulting from common human frailty appear here, I have firm faith that those discerning people who are partial only to virtue will forgive them. Everything is auspicious.
