For those whose minds are purified by the practice of meditation on the True Principle, the realization of the ultimate truth manifests in their hearts. Without an understanding of the Vasana Underlying Principles, the meaning is not grasped. Therefore, those uneven statements in the Gola Sphere were explained first.
In the beginning, having bowed with mind, speech, and body to the chosen deity, he expresses his request for the fulfillment of the desired object.
May the Sun, who is worshipped by the gods, quickly reveal for us his speech—the Sun, by whom this world is kept alive, who rises to destroy darkness, who washes away the entire collection of faults of those who bow to him, who is the beloved of the lotus, and in whose presence the sacrifices of the hundred-sacrificed Indra and others, and the gods in heaven, rejoice. 1.
Vasanabhashya: "Reveal" means to make manifest. Who? He, the Sun. What? The speech. For whom? For us. What kind of speech? That which releases "good sayings" subhashitas. How? Quickly. What kind of Sun? One worshipped by the gods. Furthermore, what kind of Sun? One in whom this world—when he rises on this earth—exists in order to know, to protect, and to revive those who have fallen as if dead in the night. The sacrifices kratu—the five great sacrifices, the darsha-purnamasa new and full moon sacrifices, the jyotishtoma, etc.—all proceed. The meaning is that whenever and wherever the Lord rises, the sacrifices proceed. By saying "he rises," the teacher Bhaskara does not imply that only those who perform sacrifices at dawn are accepted. Rather, the point is that even for those who perform sacrifices before dawn, the time of sacrifice is imminent upon his rising. Not only do the sacrifices proceed; for this very reason, the gods—Indra and others—rejoice and shine in heaven because they are the recipients of the offerings of the sacrifices. Furthermore, what kind of Sun? One in the act of destroying darkness. He who causes the destruction of darkness dhvanta is the "destroyer of darkness." Furthermore, what kind of Sun? One who washes away the entire collection of faults of those who bow down. By whom the entire collection of sins of the bowing is washed away...
