"He, the Sun, the treasure of lights, who is victorious, although he is the one whose lotus-feet are rubbed by the crowns of the gods, performs the anjali a gesture of salutation to the Three-Eyed one Shiva at the time of his rising and setting."
Thus, when the sun rises, the sacrifices, having enjoyed the fruits, become joyful; therefore, the Sun is the cause of divine play through tradition. And thus, since a benefit has been received from someone, salutation is indeed performed; the idea is that since he is worshipped by the gods, he is not unworthy of salutation. By this, it is indicated that the Sun is the supreme object of worship for humans. But if knowledge jnana is associated with logic, how can he the Sun be the cause? To this, he says: 'The method of destroying darkness' dhvanta-dhvamsa-vidhi. The destruction of darkness is the cessation of ignorance. The one who performs that is the method of destroying darkness. And thus, the one who destroys the darkness that prevents the visual perception of all objects existing in the three worlds will destroy the darkness of ignorance, even if it is within me, and will certainly grant specific knowledge of the air astronomy/breath. Thus, the darkness is like darkness; the destruction of that is the method. By this, the Sun's capacity to destroy the obstacles to the completion of the initiated work is indicated. Therefore, the criticism that the benediction of Ganesha is appropriate for the removal of obstacles, and not that of the Sun, is refuted. But if he is worshipped by the gods, he gives the desired fruits only to the gods; how is it said that he is for the author? To this, he says: 'Who has washed away the entire collection of faults of those who bow.' The host of sins of those who bow is washed away by him. Thus, he grants the desires of the devotee, not just the gods. By this, the idea is that he will grant my desires also, because of the devotion and salutation I have performed. But if it is said that 'one should desire knowledge from Maheshwara', how is the prayer for specific speech directed to the Sun? If it is said that 'one should desire health from Bhaskara' the Sun, then the prayer for health from him is appropriate, but not this. This is not correct. Because it is said 'one should desire knowledge from the Lord' Ishvara, and it is stated that the Sun is the Lord of the science of light. And it should not be said that only Ishvara is the Lord of the science of light because he is the creator of the world. Because of Vedic proof, such as 'The Sun is the best of the lights', the Sun is the Lord of the science of light that explains the stars and others. Or, the prayer is requested from the Sun for the sake of health in the form of self-knowledge. Alternatively, when the Sun is worshipped, Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheshwara are worshipped, because he is the essence of the triad. That is stated in the prayer to the Sun known as the Aditya-hridaya.
