"Salutation to the Sun, the sole eye of the world, the cause of the creation, sustenance, and destruction of the world. He who is the essence of the triad, who bears the three qualities gunas, who is the embodiment of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shankara."
Here, because he makes the sleeping world conscious at the time of his rising, he is of the nature of Brahma. Because he sustains the world through food and other things, he is of the nature of Vishnu. Because he consumes this world in the form of sleep at the time of his setting, he is of the nature of Maheshwara. Therefore, he is the essence of the triad. For this reason, they say he is of the nature of the three qualities—sattva purity, rajas activity, and tamas inertia. And thus, it is not impossible for one to be the cause of the creation, sustenance, and destruction of the world.
This is stated:
"Awakening the entire world, which had blossomed with the great sleep, suddenly by the gesture of his hand rays, the Leader of the World Sun/Ganesha seems to create the world by this method of rising.
At midday, the Lord of the day, with infinite power, satiating the world in infinite forms through drinking water and food, and other means of that kind.
In the evening, the Sun, in the form of Shankara, suddenly destroys this world, which had enclosed all objects, under the guise of sleep."
Since he is the original teacher of the mathematical sciences for Pitamaha, Soma, Vashistha, Roma, Paulisha, and others, some say that the prayer to the Sun for speech is appropriate because of the grace of the Sun and because of hearing the statements of the Surya Siddhanta. By this, the Sun's status as the sole doer of the science of light is shown. Here, time is primarily dependent on him, and it is shown through tradition. But if the Sun's indication of auspicious or inauspicious events is according to fate, and not his power to grant the desired fruit, then why was the prayer for speech made to the Sun? To this, he says: 'Friend of the water-born' jalajinobandhu. Because of the blooming of the lotus at his rising, he is the friend of the lotus jalajini. But if, by the etymology that 'what is born of water is a lotus' jalaja, because there is no blooming of the night-lotus at his rising, why was 'lotus' specifically not said, and why was 'water-born' jalajini said generally? If so, the night-lotus kumudini blooms at the rising of the moon, and through the moon, the Sun is the cause of the blooming of the night-lotus. For example, having said 'the sphere of the planets' graharnava, it is stated that the moon is a sphere of water without its own rays, and 'The Sun is the sphere of lights', because the Sun is made of light and because of the contact of the Sun's rays, the moon has rays. Without the conjunction of rays, the blooming of the night-lotus would not occur. Thus, the word 'water-born' is established for the lotus. And so, that non-conscious water-born lotus has him as a friend; why is it strange that he, being all-beneficial, will grant the desired object to me due to the cause of devotion and salutation? The idea is that he who is worshipped by the gods is all the more worshipped by humans. Thus, the benediction in the form of a salutation is accomplished by the phrase 'worshipped by the gods', and by the phrase 'washed away the entire collection of faults' and others, it is implied. The discussion of whether the benediction causes the completion of the work or the destruction of obstacles is not described here due to fear of expansion, because it is not applicable to the matter at hand, and because it is famous in other works.
This verse: "The Shardulavikridita Tiger-play meter is composed of ma-sa-ja-sa-ta-ta metrical feet and a long syllable."
This is the definition of the Shardulavikridita meter according to the rules of prosody. For knowledge of this: "All long, beginning with a long, one long-short-long..."
The knowledge of gana triads of syllables should be understood everywhere.
"A syllable that is conjunct, long, with an anusvara, or mixed with a visarga, should be understood as long, or optionally at the end of a foot."
This is the knowledge of long syllables; this is also knowledge useful for the gana.
Here, the fruit of the gana situated before is Shri Fortune.
"The 'ma' gana three long syllables gives fortune; the 'ya' gana short-long-long gives water and a son; the 'ra' gana long-short-long gives death in the middle; the 'sa' gana short-short-long gives wandering in lands..."
This is the verse about the fruits of the gana; enough of this discussion. 1.
Now, he praises the previous teachers with humility.
